Tense situation in Z’bar as CUF and ruling party battle for control

The ruling party, CCM, is likely to face stiff opposition from Civic United Front (CUF) as tension heightens here ahead of the local government elections on December 14.

The Civic United Front (CUF) youth wing (Juvicuf), has expressed its dismay over what it termed as intimidation, underestimation and segregation done by the ruling Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) against Ukawa members in the ongoing Constituent Assembly.

The CUF secretary general and Zanzibar presidential aspirant, Mr Seif Sharif Hamad, has warned the ruling party, CCM, that they won’t tolerate rigging in the October General Election.
