TODAY TALK: No, it’s not your jimbo, honourable!

While growing up, one job (if it’s a job anyway) I wanted to be involved in was politics. I really wanted to become one. I drew inspirations from some of the big names in and outside African political landscapes.

In a nutshell, this year’s poll campaign is going to be memorable. Perhaps now than ever before, our country is facing a critical transition, a passage that is going to define us all. Recklessness by whoever taking party in the electioneering process will forever change the chapters of our history books. And the signs are already on the wall.

>Last month, the government revoked employment of 200 new recruits in the immigration department citing a number of reasons one being that many of those who landed the jobs did not fully qualify – apparently because some were close relatives of immigration officers.

Abdulrahman Kinana, CCM’s secretary general, is simply phenomenon. He is really delivering for his party. His party would be dead had it not been for his cross-country tours. The man appears to be doing well and is single-handedly making CCM a formidable force again.

I’m of the opinion that the post October period will be an important phase in the quest for rebuilding our country. We’re going to see change, definitely. As things unfold, one would be forgiven to think we all live in a society full of hypocritical and deceitful people. We have people whom we call leaders, some of them, I tell you don’t deserve that title.

>Just over a week ago, Dar es Salaam was hit by a scare of its own kind – terror group commonly referred to as ‘Panya Road’ that sent Dar residents home early. This highlighted yet another area where our police need to strengthen – mass communication.
