TPDC to take oil search a notch higher

No oil has so far been found in Tanzania mainland, the state-owned petroleum corporation has said, refuting reports that there are oil deposits at Kilosa –Kilombero, Tanga and parts of Kilimanjaro.

Tanzania is looking for a better way of benefiting from oil and natural gas.The Tanzania Petroleum Development Corporation (TPDC) is planning to start participating fully in oil and gas as the government seeks to optimise its position in the industry.

Swala Oil & Gas is protesting a decision by the Tanzania Petroleum Development Corporation to withdraw a prospecting licence it had won for the Eyasi bloc.

We will be farming down both Pangani and Kilosa-Kilombero licences and the process is being run by the UK-based First Energy, a brokerage company with experience in energy deals. We have about double digit companies interested to come-in. By the end of March, we hope the process will finish and then we will know who the potential partners are.
