UK minister upbeat wind power project

Dodoma. The government locked horns with some MPs and the Economy, Industry and Trade Committee over the financing of the Singida wind power project.

 The government has denied reports that it is dragging its feet in signing a contract with investors in a wind power project based on the outskirts of Singida Municipality.

The envisaged Singida Wind Power project will roll the region’s economic fortunes and turn the municipality into a city during the next few years, the project developers said yesterday.

The Tanzania Electric Supply Company (Tanesco) in Njombe Region has incurred a huge loss after strong winds at Itambo and Ihanja in Wanging’ombe District damaged 15 electricity poles.

The Board of Directors of the African Development Bank Group (AfDB) approved an African Development Fund (ADF) Loan of USD 144.9 million1, to Kenya - Tanzania Power Interconnection Project.
