Cassava is one of the important staple food crops that are grown in Mara Region. Together with other crops like sorghum, maize and sweet potatoes, cassava has been playing an exceptional role in dealing with hunger or food shortages.

For me, it was merely a trip to see a beautiful farm in a Tanzanian village. Like any visitor in the country, I felt the need to get ‘connected’ to nature! But, for my colleague, Sister Flora -- a registered nurse at Kibong’oto Infectious Diseases Hospital -- the farm plays an important role in her life.
