Dar seeks $800m to spur shilling, plug budget hole

>Government funding of critical projects and programmes could be disrupted following the decision by key donors to withhold $558 million (about Sh950 billion) in budget support over corruption concerns.

The East African Community (EAC) will seek the approval of $1,121,107 as a supplementary budget for the 2014/15 financial year from the East African Legislative Assembly (Eala) when the regional Parliament reconvenes here tomorrow.

The Consultative Committee involving the Standing Parliamentary Committee on Budget and some Cabinet ministers have agreed to reallocate extra funds to 13 items in a bid to seal the 2013/14 national Budget deficit.
