Kenya’s interior minister and police chief were removed from their posts yesterday, hours after Somalia’s Shabaab rebels killed at least 36 people in a fresh massacre in the northeast of the country.

Suspected Al-Shabaab militants from Somalia stormed into a Kenyan coastal town late on Sunday, killing at least 49 people in a major assault on a police station, hotels and government offices.

Wapiganaji hao waliwahutubia waumini waliokuwa msikitini kwa karibu saa mbili kabla ya kutokomea mwituni.

Waliikosoa serikali ya Kenya na kuonya waumini dhidi ya kuwa majasusi wa serikali ya Kenya.

Mwezi uliopita Al Shaabab walivamia chuo kikuu cha Garissa na kuwaua watu 150 wengi wao wanafunzi.
