Put local content unit to enjoy gas benefits, says expert

A Scottish international consultant in oil and gas, Mr Gordon McIntosh, urged Tanzania yesterday to refrain from the allure of depending on multinationals in the building of supporting infrastructure for natural gas investments.

Tanzania expects to have its oil and gas local content policy approved by the end of June next year, the government has confirmed.

Dar es Salaam. The government is set to prepare the National Local Content Strategy before the end of this year for guiding investors on how Tanzanians have to benefit from booming investments in the gas sector.

The Chief Secretary of the Government of Tanzania, Amb. Ombeni Sefue, will chair a roundtable dinner on ‘Local Content’, on Monday in Dar es Salaam, to promote dialogue on local content amongst relevant stakeholders by providing cross-country lessons on Local Content Policies.
