MEMBERS of the special committee of the CCM National Executive Committee (NEC) in Zanzibar on Sunday unanimously approved President Ali Mohammed Shein's application to contest in the October general election as the party's Isles flag bearer.

The term of Zanzibar's president is extended after elections on the Tanzanian archipelago were cancelled last week because of fraud allegations.
