Strong reaction as Twaweza poll shows Lowassa trailing

On Wednesday last week Twaweza released a survey on citizens’ preferences and views on political leadership that showed that about half of the respondents support CCM.

Analysts yesterday expressed discontent over Sunday’s President Jakaya Kikwete’s remarks that Zanzibar will not be stable without being governed by the CCM.

Nigerians split along party lines as poll is delayed

Over 45 per cent of Tanzanians feel unsafe walking in their neighbourhoods due to increased crime incidents according to a report launched yesterday.

The ACT Wazalendo have announced yesterday that they are content with Twaweza statistics released earlier this week as they reflect the major hurdles citizens face.

Much of the discussion in traditional media, on social media and elsewhere regarding our recently published opinion poll findings on Tanzanian politics has focussed on perceived errors in the brief. We want to correct three of the most common misunderstandings.
1. “Totals do not add up to 100%.”
It has been pointed out that several charts and tables in the brief include data that does not seem to add up to 100%. In some cases, the figures add up to 99%, 101% or 102%.
