Twaweza poll shows CCM is favoured by unfair system

An opinion poll showing CCM candidate John Magufuli leading his Chadema rival Edward Lowassa by 40 per cent has drawn strong reaction from politicians and academicians.

The just ended local government elections have placed the ruling party CCM at the top against opposition political parties.

Over 45 per cent of Tanzanians feel unsafe walking in their neighbourhoods due to increased crime incidents according to a report launched yesterday.

Speaking at a press conference in Dar es Salaam today NCCR Mageuzi national chairman Mr James Mbatia and Ukawa co-chairman, raised doubts about the credibility of the methodology used by Twaweza  in the recently published opinion poll.

The ACT Wazalendo have announced yesterday that they are content with Twaweza statistics released earlier this week as they reflect the major hurdles citizens face.

Much of the discussion in traditional media, on social media and elsewhere regarding our recently published opinion poll findings on Tanzanian politics has focussed on perceived errors in the brief. We want to correct three of the most common misunderstandings.
1. “Totals do not add up to 100%.”
It has been pointed out that several charts and tables in the brief include data that does not seem to add up to 100%. In some cases, the figures add up to 99%, 101% or 102%.
