‘The EastAfrican’ ban angers IPI

>The United States has expressed its concern about the decision by the Tanzanian government to ban the circulation of the regional weekly The EastAfrican.

Dar es Salaam. The European Union has expressed its concern about press freedom in Tanzania after the government banned the circulation of the regional weekly The EastAfrican last week.

>Tanzania was yesterday taken to task over the recent ban of The EastAfrican newspaper and was urged to explain if the measure does not violate the much touted media freedom.

>Siku nne baada ya gazeti  la The EastAfrican kufungiwa kwa madai halijasajiliwa nchini Tanzania, Umoja wa Ulaya (EU) umelaani kwa maelezo uamuzi huo  unaonyesha walakini uliopo katika suala la uhuru wa habari nchini.

The East African Law Society (Eals) has pleaded with the Tanzanian government to lift the ban it imposed recently on the circulation of The EastAfrican newspaper.
