EDITORIAL: let’s have clean-up day in urban neighborhood’s

>As Tanzania seeks to boost tourist arrivals, one thing that has apparently been overlooked is the potential of urban tourism.

>Police work is underlined by a duty to ensure the safety of the people and that of their property. There is a good reason why the motto of the police here is “Usalama wa Raia” or Citizens’ Safety.

>Dar es Salaam city doesn’t have to be dirty. We only need to make a categorical resolution to that effect. For, let’s face it: Dar es Salaam City, affectionately referred to as “Haven of Peace” is the country’s commercial capital and hence, the quintessential gateway to Tanzania.

>The population explosion in Tanzania’s urban areas presents  a challenge that should be addressed now instead of the relevant authorities waiting until things get out of hand.

>Principal Judge Fakihi Jundu’s order that judges of the high court hear 220 cases per month is a move in the right direction. In recent years, the judiciary has seemingly had serious problems ensuring that justice is dispensed on time.

>Political news in Tanzania – which represents part of the broader picture of Africa that Western cynics derogatorily dub a dark continent – is seldom pleasant.
