Govt buys 26pc shares to retake General Tyre

Serikali imesema sasa inamiliki kiwanda cha kutengeneza magurudumu ya magari cha General Tyre kwa asilimia 100 baada ya kununua hisa zote 26 zenye thamani ya Dola 1 milioni zilizokuwa zikimilikiwa na kampuni ya Continental AG.

>Discussions between the government and a mobile phone company, Bharti Airtel, with regard to the fate of Airtel’s 35 per cent shares in Tanzania Telecommunications Company Ltd (TTCL) are stuck, The Citizen has learnt.

The government has finally agreed with Bharti Airtel over 35 per cent of shares which the India-based company owns in the Tanzania Telecommunications Company Limited (TTCL).

The government is selling its stakes in Tanzania Breweries Limited (TBL) and Tanzania Cigarette Company (TCC) to raise funds for reinvestment in state-financed projects.
