Nigeria reduces $5.2bn MTN fine

Shares in Africa's biggest mobile operator, MTN, are suspended in the wake of a huge fine imposed by Nigerian regulators.

Nigeria's telecom regulator has fined MTN Nigeria $5.2bn for failing to disconnect all non-registered sim cards.

Nigeria said it was expecting telecoms giant MTN to meet a deadline for paying a record $3.9 billion fine which expires Thursday, despite the South African operator challenging the penalty in court.
