No breakthrough as JK, Seif discuss Z’bar crisis

The Civic United Front (CUF)’s youth wing, Juvicuf, will hold an emergency meeting of its Governing Council at the end of this month to discuss the political crisis in Zanzibar which, according to them, has affected the economy by reducing the number of tourists visiting the Isles.

The Secretary General of the opposition Civic United Front (CUF), Mr Seif Sharrif Hamad, yesterday held talks with diplomats accredited to Tanzania aimed at finding a solution to the Isles political impasse.

East African Community leaders meet in Dar es Salaam today for the second time to discuss Burundi’s deepening political impasse that has forced thousands of civilians to flee the country.

Ever since Zanzibar Electoral Commission (ZEC) chairman Jecha Salum Jecha annulled the Isles Election, for reasons best known to himself, on October 28, 2015, the archipelago entered into a record political crisis.

Zanzibar President Ali Mohamed Shein and opposition leader Seif Sharif Hamad met here yesterday in what insiders say could be the final stages of the talks to end the political impasse caused by cancellation of election results.
