Everyone agrees that President John Magufuli has announced a lean Cabinet. His team of 19 ministers and 15 deputies is slightly more than half of what his predecessor, President Jakaya Kikwete, appointed when he took power 10 years ago. New ministers, who were sworn in last Friday, are expected to assist the President to implement the Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) election manifesto.

A close female friend once said that it seemed to her that all men are born of the same mother. What she did not say is whether they are sired by the same father.

With more people living longer, aging healthfully becomes a necessity. Until a fountain of youth is found, we’ll have to rely on adopting the best habits possible to ensure that as we progress through life, we’re doing so in a way that is optimal for our bodies.
