Ugandan authorities are struggling with the increasing number of people fleeing the continued fighting in South Sudan as Kasim Kayira reports.

Thousands of refugees fleeing violence in South Sudan have been crossing the border into neighbouring Uganda, but food is in short supply and basic services lacking.

Aid agencies have warned tens of thousands of people forced out of their homes because of fighting in South Sudan are in desperate need of help.

Kiryandongo District chairperson Ben Moro has requested government to screen South Sudanese refugees who were recently resettled in the district. “There are fears that some of them could be armed. We request government to screen them,” Mr Moro said.
